Robert is a Senior Architect with over 30 years’ experience, often working on public sector projects. His focus since joining PHd has been on healthcare design and implementation.

Robert’s previous work included being lead architect working through all project stages on new schools and school extensions, ranging from Primary Schools to specialist accommodation at High Schools. Work on Special Needs Schools was also a particular interest, as designer for major extensions, refurbishments and new builds. He also worked on extensions and refurbishments of public libraries, mental health daycare facilities, and customer service centres. Robert also spent several years working on the refurbishment of high-rise housing for a housing association, following the implementation of the Building Safety Act.

Robert also has a keen focus on sustainability in all building design, including building fabric, materials, energy use, climate resilience, and sustainable drainage features.

Early in his career Robert worked for three years in the former East Germany shortly after German reunification, working on a range of industrial and domestic projects. His once fluent German is now a little rusty!

Outside of the office, Robert is a keen gardener and is a volunteer at his local Methodist Church.
