Originally commissioned to design Omicron Electronics UK Ltd’s bespoke headquarters, completed in 2018, PHd was subsequently appointed to deliver a two-storey extension that expands the company’s technical service capabilities and supports its long-term growth in the region.
The extension adds approximately 1,635 sqm of high-specification floorspace across two levels and is seamlessly connected to the existing building via a shared delivery bay and first-floor link, which incorporates staff welfare facilities.
The ground floor is carefully organised around technical and operational functions, including reception, workshops, storage, testing, repair and calibration facilities, alongside dedicated server and plant rooms. These spaces are efficiently integrated with shared delivery areas to optimise workflow and service operations.
At first-floor level, flexible office accommodation is complemented by meeting and conference facilities, a central dining area, a gym, and staff welfare spaces. The conference room opens directly onto the central dining area, enabling the spaces to operate independently or combine to form a larger, adaptable event environment. A roof terrace extends from this space, providing an external breakout area for staff and visitors.
The site strategy seamlessly blends functionality with sustainability. Parking has been expanded to 49 spaces, including EV charging and secure cycle storage, while thoughtfully designed landscaping and sustainable drainage enhance environmental performance. New habitats and native planting achieve a measurable Biodiversity Net Gain, underscoring the project’s commitment to ecological responsibility.
This extension reinforces Omicron Electronics’ commitment to operational excellence, staff wellbeing, and environmental responsibility, creating a headquarters that is as flexible as it is forward-thinking.
