Following a competitive design process Pinnegar Hayward were commissioned to create a new visitors’ centre for the historic, Grade II* listed, Claymills Pumping Station near Burton – on –Trent , Staffordshire. The exciting, contemporary but sensitive design was chosen from a field of five and was submitted for planning approval in July 2016. The scheme specifically & subtly references historic aspects of the site’s buildings & activities reflecting them in this dynamic design. The £1.5million scheme received Heritage Lottery phase 2 funding in late 2016 and is proceeding to technical design phases before applying for delivery stage funding later in 2017.
